SunScents is a candle shop representing about 30 brands of candles in addition to the candles that owner Chuck Sowers makes at his Kitty Hawk studio. Chuck creates handmade seashell candles from shells he finds here on the Outer Banks. The shop also represents local artists, including Chuck’s wife, who creates hand-rolled grapevine wreaths embellished with seashells, as well as the beach glass jewelry line from Beachcomber Jewelry, made with locally harvested beach glass. The candy makers at The Fudgery make dense, delicious fudge in copper kettles in the store, and the aromas are heavenly. Watch them make a batch, then choose from a variety of tempting flavors, even sugar-free. This fudge must be good: The Fudgery started on the Outer Banks in 1980 and now has a veritable fudge empire of 30 stores around the country.
