The Left Bank

  • 1461 Duck Road, The Sanderling Resort and Spa
  • Duck
  • (252) 261-8419

The Sanderling’s AAA Four Diamond Award-winning restaurant is on the sound side of The Resort, overlooking the tranquil waters of the Currituck Sound. The Left Bank offers spectacular panoramic views and directly faces the best sunsets the eastern seaboard has to offer. The inspiration for The Left Bank’s name derives from the parallel between Paris’s left bank and the restaurant’s location being on the left banks of Duck’s peninsula. An intimate 60-seat dining room showcases an exhibition kitchen, custom North Carolina millwork and a museum-quality collection of Doughty sculptures on display. Grand floor-to-ceiling windows offer an unobstructed view.

The Left Bank serves contemporary American cuisine with the technique and traditions of the French culinary arts. Its mission is to serve the bounty of local farmers and fisherman with an emphasis on using Sustainable, Organic, Artisanal and Local ingredients, what they call S.O.A.L.

The a la carte menu is a constantly changing effort to reflect the seasons. A multi-course tasting menu with or without paired wines is also a highlight of the menu. The Left Bank is a multiple Wine Spectator Award of Excellence winner. The menus are created by Chef de Cuisine Christopher Gerster, with the culinary direction of the resort’s Executive Chef Joshua Hollinger and celebrity chef and whole-foods pioneer Michel Nischan.

The Lifesaving Station Restaurant

  • 1461 Duck Road, The Sanderling Resort and Spa
  • Duck
  • (252) 449-6654

The Lifesaving Station is The Sanderling Resort and Spa’s family-oriented, casual restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Sanderling Resort, under the culinary direction of Executive Chef Joshua Hollinger, is making a serious effort to establish the resort as a dining destination. Hollinger is reinventing The Sanderling Resort’s two restaurants (The Lifesaving Station and The Left Bank) into places to enjoy the best of the locally grown produce and seafood with a farm-to-table approach. The Lifesaving Station menu features contemporary American cuisine. Breakfast and Sunday brunch are available with traditional fare and beyond-the-ordinary touches. Lunch includes salads, soups, appetizers, sandwiches and entrees. Dinner focuses on creative preparations of local seafood and natural beef. Children are welcome for all meal periods with kid-friendly menus. The restaurant is housed in an 1899 U.S. Life Saving Service Station, and the decor pays homage to the building’s unique history.  An all-you-can-eat Crab Feast (with lobster too) and live entertainment is available every Wednesday during the summer at the Soundside Pavilion serviced by the restaurant staff.
