Cameron House Inn

Duck is known much more for its vacation rentals than it is for its nightly accommodations.

There are no standard hotels and motels in Duck, only one small bed and breakfast inn and one grand resort. Most people rent a vacation home when they come to Duck. If this appeals to you, see our listings of Vacation Rental companies.

Duck Bed and Breakfast Inns

The Duck Inn, a Bed and Breakfast
N.C. Highway 12
(252) 261-2300
On the Currituck Sound with great sunset and wildlife viewing from decks, a dock and an over-the-sound gazebo, The Duck Inn provides a perfect way to experience the peaceful side of the island. The house is within walking distance of the shops and restaurants of the village, and bikes are available for exploring the village or riding over to the beach. If you prefer, borrow one of the house kayaks and explore the marsh and sound instead. The bed and breakfast inn has three rooms, one with a separate entrance. Breakfast is lavish, with a full buffet including fruit, juices, tea and coffee, cereal, pastries, breakfast meat and a hot entrée, such as omelets, quiche, soufflés, pancakes, waffles or French toast. Afternoon snacks and drinks are served in the common area. Children older than 12 are welcome, but pets are not allowed. Smoking is allowed outdoors only.

The Sanderling Resort, Spa and Conference Center
N.C. Highway 12, North of Duck
(252) 261-4111, (800) 701-4111
The Sanderling is a grand seaside resort of classic Outer Banks architecture. Its refined accommodations include three inns, four villas, two restaurants, conference facilities, a luxurious spa and a fitness center. All the buildings in the resort are in close proximity to each other and to the ocean and sound, providing for an easily walkable, vacation village atmosphere. The three inn buildings are spectacular showcases of wood interiors and rare wildlife art and sculptures in the main areas. The 88 rooms offer varying levels of comfort, but all have private baths, private decks, plush robes, fine personal-care products and a small refrigerator. The four Ocean Side Villas accommodate families or small groups from eight to 10 people with all the amenities of a rental home and then some.

This exclusive resort has two restaurants, the elegant The Left Bank and the more casual Lifesaving Station Restaurant (see Restaurants). The Sanderling’s conference facilities can handle groups from 10 to 100, with flexible meeting and board rooms, high-tech equipment, sound systems, banquet facilities and catering. Weddings are popular at The Sanderling, and there are sites for ceremonies and receptions. The Sanderling’s world-class spa offers an amazing menu of massage, body, skin, hair and nail care as well as yoga and Pilates. You can also enjoy the resort’s fitness center at the Pine Island Racquet Club, located a short three-mile drive north of the resort.
